New Jersey Nights is a collection of songs based on Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, before I went to see them at the Bournemouth Pavilion I had never heard of them, or so I thought.
The average age of the crowd was about 65…and I might be being a little generous here. There was a reason for this though, the Four Seasons were huge as the Beatles released their first single. I never understood what people meant by the Beatles changing pop music forever until now.
As the New Jersey Nights opened with their first song, I instantly recognised it, in fact most of the songs I recognised from classic films like Dirty Dancing and Grease , so I was able to clap and sing along to the odd line.
I did get told off for talking by the older version of my friend and I though, as I had an “Ohhhh” moment, when my friend told me that the host of the dance in Grease is meant to be Frankie Valli. Suddenly, things made sense.
I was a bit dubious at first about the show, but I really got into the songs. It was a fun night out and definitely worth going along. Now I know where my mum got her dance moves from, I’m a little sad that I can’t take her along, as I’m sure she would love it.
You can go and see the show in Bournemouth until 3 August 2019, although they are touring the UK if you can’t make it.
